Rag Outing @ Pit Stop

19th July, Saturday. It was a day of fun playing board games and etc. Nothing like taking a break from all the Rag work... Mmmm.. and the lasagna there is pretty good too =D

these guys sure looks like they're having fun.. ^-^

Hmmm... you guys can work on the "playing and enjoying" part.. =p

Ok.. Enough with the innocent looking face, where did you guys hide the board game?

Err.. Packed up and going home already? Aww~~

PS: Actually we played there the whole afternoon till evening. The only reason why this post is so short and have a huge lack of pictures is because I was busy having fun.... Haha.. Yes, guilty as charged.. =D

The Amazing Lab Race (16th July)

NUS-MOE Amazing Lab Race is an annual event held jointly by the Faculty of Engineering (FoE) and MoE, meant to publicize FoE to the youths of singapore during their secondary school days. The Event involves having each secondary school from all over singapore to form a team of 5 (some schools actually requested permission and have sent two teams, and even some JCs have requested to join in as well) to participate in a game of finding the Labs in FoE and complete assigned challenges and games while staying ahead of the race to be the ULTIMATE CHAMPION.

Annually, the Engin Rag Team will also be involved, taking charge of one of the game stations setup for the event. This year, the theme is "LOST" with the challenge being that the students have to build a short table from the materials given in the room.

The Video Made for the Lab Race Game Station. Do watch out for the comedic part at the back. =p The actual timing and quality was better, the errors in timing at the back you see now is due to compression in size. Hope you guys like the video though, quite alot of effort was spent in making this video as I wasnt familiar with video editing and the collection of raw clips was quite alot of work too.

This is the quarantine room where students can watch the video and are held back in the room if all the stations was full.

A creative triangular table. =)

The V-Table by VJC. Haha. Good effort.

The Catapult!!

The zig zag based table. Very good design I should say.

The Raft. Why build a table when you can escape from the Island. Haha.. Very innovative.

Before the event, we had a dry-run to see if the game was indeed playable within the set time and rules.

There you have it. Our model answer.

And the winner is..... RAG TEAM!!!

Nope, just kidding. Raffles Institude is the ultimate winner for the event this year. A big congratulations to you guys!! You have done your school proud.

For the rest of us, there's always the Olympics Cup. =D

PS: There was alot more schools that participated in the event. I've only uploaded the selected few that was more interesting.

More To Come

Sorry for the belated updates. (I've been alittle busy with the starting of the new semester, esp with choosing a specialization) From now on, I shall slowly but steadily write posts for the blog until there is no longer anything to blog about. Haha.

Regarding the Rag Website, http://sitao.drivehq.com/rag/flash.html. We are facing some unexpected "technical" problems. Basically, the server is beginning to charge money due to a sudden increase in viewership and we have none to spare. I've been trying my best to liase with the Engin Club IT Head to have our website uploaded to the Engin Club Website, but he has been too busy to help us for quite awhile now... =/

For some of the Rag Day pictures, KaiWei (Rag Treasurer), has uploaded the pictures he took in facbook. The link for his albums is as follows : http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=512997933

More links for pictures by EnTao (Rag IT head):

Please take your time downloading and enjoying the pictures for now, they will be valuable token of memorance when you feel nostalgic in the future. =)

Engin Rag Team Blasting through the 9 skies

This is the very 1st year in NUS Engin Rag history where we organized a Rag Blast!!, a one-day event meant to introduce the yearly Rag activities to freshmen. I personally feel that it is a good idea and believe that this practice should continue as a form of tradition. =)

What better way to start the day than a little Ice Breaking session.

Anybody hungry?

Briefing...

Fun,fun,fun!!

Awww~ Don't weep. Though its time to go, you can still sign up to be a member of the Engin Rag Team 2008!! ;)

What is NUS Rag Day?

A tradition unique to NUS, Rag Day is one aspect of the NUS educational experience which aims to foster a spirit of camaraderie amongst freshmen and seniors alike as the former are inducted into their new phase of undergraduate life.

Rag Day is also put together to acknowledge and thank the public for their generous donations held earlier on NUS FLAG DAY.

Rag Day is normally held at the end of the orientation week as the grand finale of all orientation activities. Nonetheless for Engin, we still haveEngin Bash going on!

Each faculty club and hall will present their impressive and environmentally-friendly Float with their exuberant Performances by the Dancers.

With a theme each year, each float has its own story to tell. So..

What is Engin Rag 2008 doing?

Do check it out at our RAG BLAST 2008!
